Special Invitation Designer and Developer Workflow

Our group is going to cancel our normal May meeting because we don't want to crash with Google I/O Conference and their Party night on Wed evening.

Instead I am going to invite you to attend our presentation at Adobe headquarter either in SF or SJ. We will highlight Adobe CS4 Suite and Flex filling up the gap and solving the workflow mysteries.

To keep things easy I am going to use 1 event registration for both dates. Please mark your calender instead of relying on the automatic calender.

Register so we can estimate the head counts since Adobe meeting room is a bit smaller.

This month we'll focus is on preparation for the upcoming Flex tour featuring beta releases for Flex Builder 4 and Flash Catalyst. Our goal is to bring the designer and developer community closer together to help you understand current design approaches that will easily carry over into the new betas and working apps. This session will provide a foundation on which to understand and take advantage of the coming releases.

*"Flex for Flash Designers - A Thermo Primer"* - Kristofer Joseph will help artists and those new to Flex, get to know Flex and Flash Catalyst concepts by presenting from a designer's perspective. Overview will include skinning, states, transitions, effects, and the layout framework.

*"Designer and Developer Workflow"* - Bess Ho and Keith Sutton will cover the stages of using CS Tools and Flex to design and build a working prototype website. This step-by-step demo starts with creating design elements in CS4 and taking the resources into Flex to get a mock-up running. It will finish with an overview of application architecture, data management and services using PureMVC.

  * Flex Primer for Designers - from the design entry-point - basic
    framework, layout, skinning, components, states, and transitions;
  * Design for Flex Developers - creating design elements in CS4 and
    taking the resources into Flex to get a mock-up running;
  * Adding meat to the mock-up - application architecture, data
    management and services using PureMVC.
